On 1-2 September, a total of 112 performers comprising Form 1 and Form 2 students performed a musical titled “The Wizard Of Oz”, a classic story that has been loved by people of all ages. The aim of the musical is to give the students a stage for their talents to shine. Various schools from Malacca were invited to watch our annual musical. It was nerve racking as many have never performed on stage to a large audience.

On the first day, the performers did their make up in the morning and also did some final preparations. The two-hour performance started in the afternoon and ended in the evening. The performers were then given time to rest before the Gala Night the next day.

During the gala show, the performers produced a splendid show and received positive feedback from the audience. The visiting schools were also  delighted by the performance, colourful props and lighting effects. Karlyssa Lana binti Faizal, who played the role of Dorothy Gale, the protagonist, and who also sang the song “Over the Rainbow”, was the audience’s favourite character as she played her part extremely well, supported by an equally good supporting cast. This musical would not be possible without the assistance from the school orchestra which played the musical  scores for the Wizard of Oz “live” in front of the audience.

“Somewhere over the rainbow, the dreams that you dare to dream really do come true.” With hard work and help from various sources, we managed to realise our dream of making this year’s musical the best one to date. This will surely be an unforgettable moment for everyone. Mission accomplished.
