Being helpful is not the only quality a girl should have but boldness, strength and also wisdom are what it takes to become one. From 30 to 31 January 2016, the Girl Guides of Kolej Yayasan Saad held their annual camp in the school compound for two days. The objective was to achieve the respective badges for each class.

On the first day, after group division, the girls were required to complete their tasks. Some needed to find firewood, some had to dig holes while the others got to learn how to clean raw fish. It was surely a good experience for these young girls.

After a few hours, the Girl Guides started to cook the fish with only a hole, sticks and a small fire — and yes, without a gas stove. This is to train them to help themselves especially during camps. Not only that, they also completed their “Lambang Rumah Kecil”  badge for the Girl Guides in Class Two, putting them closer to achieving Queen Guides.

That evening, the girls went for a 7km hike in the school compound before the Cultural Night started. During the cultural night, the groups performed their group performances in front of their guiders who came that night to join the fun.

Madam Vijayaletchumi, the advisor of Kolej Yayasan Saad Girl Guides who had just come back from celebrating the 100-Year Guiding in Malaysia also joined the camp together with the other guiders.

On the second day, the camp ended with the “Ladam Kuda” which is an event that is held during any Girl Guides meeting to officially end the camp. The Girl Guides gained a lot of experiences during the camp and it is hoped that this camp will be held in the future for the betterment of the KYS Girl Guides.
